Children should participate in difficult family decisions. It is a good opportunity to learn how to make decisions.
In my country, children only need to read books. Pass tests. From kindergarten to high school to congratulate.
Then during university, children need to learn to make decisions, find their passion, learn about the relationship, fall in love, how to deal with breaking up, many things children need to learn in these four years. It is tough.
I agree with the American style of learning decisions from youth. My son has lived in the USA for one year. He learns how to make decisions about applying for college. It is tough for him. In Taiwan, the school and the teacher make decisions; the child follows the decisions.
Making decisions is more difficult than following them.
